I’m excited to announce “AI Wednesdays,” a new stream from my older son, Stephen, and me! We plan to focus on how AI intersects software and data, at least as a starting point. Who knows where this may evolve…

Speaking of blog posts…
SSIS Extension Updates - Jun 2025
In SSIS Extension Updates – Jun 2025, I share about an update to the SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Projects 2022 Visual Studio 2022 extension. It’s cool to see Microsoft continue to support SSIS customers - especially in the latest version of SQL Server Management Studio, SSMS v21.
Stephen Leonard, AI Engineer, Enterprise Data & Analytics
In Stephen Leonard, AI Engineer, Enterprise Data & Analytics, I tell the story of how my older son, Stephen Leonard, and I started working together. I share how he started recreating MCP functionality on his own, and then I shared MCP with him once I realized he was (mostly) reinventing the wheel. He promptly began recreating MCP Server on his own…

Configure Security to Read Fabric Artifacts
Have I mentioned Data Engineering Lifecycle Management Suite (DELMSuite) recently? DELMSuite is a (small, but growing) collection of utilities designed to support Fabric data engineers.
The latest utility is Fabric Navigator, and it’s free!
In Configure Security to Read Fabric Artifacts, I write about the minimum security required to connect with Fabric REST APIs for utilities like Fabric Navigator. Spoiler alert: I walkthrough creating an Azure App Registration, assigning it to an Entra Group, and configuring Fabric to allow members of the group to call Fabric APIs.
Book Review: After Moses
I recently made some time to enjoy some sci-fi reading, and I am so glad I did. As I posted on X:
"After Moses" is the best sci-fi novel I've read in a long time. I love the characters. I love the world-building. Fantastic job, @MichaelFKane! :{>
Please note: The links above (and below) to the book are not affiliate links.
If affiliate links bother you, we should really talk…
After Moses is the first book in a series of five books. I’m about halfway through the second book now and, so far, it’s as good as the first. I confess: I’m a fan of science-fiction - especially sci-fi series. I admire the talent and imagination of authors who are able to build universes, narratives, and plots - not to mention (amazing) characters - and then slowly, over several books, reveal details that explain stuff that happened in earlier volumes.
In my opinion, MichaelFKane (←that’s a link to his SubStack!) does a great job of all of the above.

In Person on the West Coast in November
I am honored to attend - and I even get to present! - the PASS Data Community Summit 2025 in Seattle, WA 17-21 Nov 2025!
Although the abstract has not yet been updated (it’s all my fault. I haven’t yet submitted an update to the cool PASS Data Community Summit Program People), Stephen is joining me to co-present a full-day pre-conference training day titled Data Engineering Fundamentals with Fabric Data Factory.
I’m covering Data Engineering fundamentals including design patterns, lifecycle management, and metadata-driven execution frameworks; while Stephen is covering some use cases for using AI in data engineering.
It’s going to be a blast!
Register today and learn more at PASS Data Community Summit!
We hope to see you there.
